Provide students with theoretical and practical skills needed to:

1.       Perform mental health assessments of infants, children and adolescents

2.       Carry out structured or semi-structured forms of mental health interviewing of infants, children and adolescents

3.       Perform psychological and neuropsychological assessments of infants, children and adolescents

4.       Carry out mental health formulations and integration using the bio-psycho-social model


The overall aims of the module are to provide students with the basic theoretical and practical skills needed to:

           

1.      Recognise specific symptoms and presentations of common disorders and syndromes in CAMH

2.      Understand the basic management options for common disorders and syndromes in CAMH


The overall aims of the module are to provide students with basic theoretical and practical skills needed to:

1.      Understand normal infant, child and adolescent development

2.      Understand the psychological theory of development from birth to adolescence

3.      Describe factors influencing child development

4.      Describe basic developmental assessment of infants and children

 


In two main topics, namely - 

  • Training Health Care Workers for Child & Adolescent Mental Health Care 
  • Mental Health in Primary Health Care & Primary Care

this course provides knowledge on service development as well as the requisite skills to establish 

common child and adolescent mental health services. Concept such as task-shifting/sharing and  WHO Mental Health GAP would be discussed.
