Learning Outcomes
•At the end of the course, students should be able to:
•(a) Describe the general and physiotherapy management of fractures and dislocations.
•(b) Describe physiotherapy management of soft tissue injuries.
•(c) Explain the role of physiotherapy in the care of patients with burns and amputations etc.

Course content:

Fractures – definition, classification, complications (infections, vascular, nervous etc.) healing (delayed, mal and non-union). Dislocations. General principles of management of fractures (closed and open reductions, immobilisations, internal and external fixations) and dislocations (reductions and immobilisations). Physiotherapy management during and post immobilisation including training in assisted walking. General management of acute and chronic soft tissue injuries (muscular, tendinous and ligamentous injuries, tendinities, tenosynovitis, fasciitis etc.). ACL repairs, meniscal repairs, etc.
