LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, Students should be able to:
•Explain the advantages of exercises in water over exercises on land.
•Explain Hydrodynamic laws to hydrotherapy.
• Describe basic methods of exercises in water.
•Instruct patients in exercises in therapeutic pool.
•Select appropriate hydrotherapy medium for different parts of the body.

COURSE CONTENT:
•Historical Background.  Hydrodynamic laws- Archimedes law/principle. Pascal’s law, surface tension, etc. Body immersion and Weightlessness. Therapeutic pools (Types), Whirlpool (application to burns) and Baths, Pool accessories. Therapeutic pool environment – pool temperature, pH, humidity, ventilation, water hygiene (disinfectant). Methods of exercise in therapeutic pools- conventional method and Bad Ragaz method.
•Physiological effects, therapeutic uses, indications, contraindications, dangers (including water borne 

Diseases) and safety measures.

   Application to specific conditions- paralytic (poliomyelitis), spastic, rheumatic and orthopaedic      conditions 

    Pool plants – components, care and maintanance of pool

    Exercises in water versus exercises on land- advantages and disadvantages.
